Matkahuolto's logistics solutions enable second-hand sales via Relove from all over Finland

Relove is a Finnish pioneer in the circular economy sector, with stores in Helsinki and Tampere offering inspiring second-hand and café experiences. Relove wanted to give its customers the opportunity to send high-quality second-hand clothing and accessories for sale from elsewhere in Finland as well.

“Our customers from other parts of the country have expressed their wish to sell their second-hand treasures through Relove and have lamented the lack of a store in their hometown. Our collaboration with Matkahuolto addresses this need and enables even more consumers interested in the circular economy and sustainable fashion to recycle their clothing and accessories nationwide,” says Anu Kervinen, Relove’s Chief Operating Officer.

Matkahuolto offered its Customer Return service as a solution, providing a shipping code along with the reservation confirmation. This allows Relove’s customers to take their parcels to the nearest Matkahuolto pick-up point or parcel locker — and Matkahuolto takes care of the rest.

We want to make sending as easy as possible for our customers. Matkahuolto’s service network has excellent nationwide coverage throughout Finland, which is why we chose Matkahuolto as our partner. Our customers have received the service incredibly well and have been very satisfied with it.

To meet the needs of Relove’s customers, Matkahuolto offers over 2,200 pick-up points and parcel lockers located in convenient places, such as shops and along daily routes.

Circular economy and responsible logistics go hand in hand

Consolidating deliveries to a single operator and one delivery day per week helps Relove reduce emissions from transportation. Matkahuolto delivers new batches of sale items once a week at an agreed time to Relove’s stores and simultaneously collects unsold products to be returned to the customers.

Matkahuolto has achieved significant emission reductions, for example, by switching to renewable fuels for its domestic trunk transports. Thanks to targeted emission reduction measures, Matkahuolto’s parcel-specific emissions decreased by approximately 10% in 2024 compared to the previous year.

In line with our emission reduction target, approved by the international SBT initiative, we are committed to halving our emissions by 2030. We are pleased that a responsible operator and circular economy pioneer like Relove has chosen Matkahuolto as its transport partner.

Flexibility is the key to successful collaboration

Overall, Relove has been extremely satisfied with Matkahuolto’s Parcel Services as well as the flexibility and agility of the cooperation and communication. Following the positive experiences from the partnership that started with the Tampere store in summer 2024, the collaboration was expanded to include the Helsinki stores as well.

Working with Matkahuolto has been extremely easy, especially when agreeing on the details of the collaboration, such as delivery schedules,” Kervinen praises. “We have been able to agree on matters flexibly, and communication has flowed seamlessly in both directions. We hope that our cooperation will continue and grow even further in the future.
